Proximity sensor vs Accelerometer sensor vs Gyro sensor


Proximity sensor:- is a kind of sensor which detect the nearby object without any physical contact. In mobile phones when user holding phone near their face area during call then proximity sensor shut down screen to avoid dialer presses. Proximity sensor emits electromagnetic field  or electromagnetic radiation and looks for changes in the field and return signal. It located right of the earpiece. Proximity means closeness so when any object detect close to the sensor during call then sensor disable light of the display. Optical proximity sensor used in most of the smartphone. Proximity sensors are longer sensing range, low cost and easy in installation.

2.       Capacitive
3.       Photoelectric
4.       ultrasonic

Accelerometer sensor:- is a type of sensor which detect the orientation of the phone. This sensor measure the magnitude and the direction of the acceleration. It determine orientation sensing and motion input. This sensor adjust the orientation of the screen landscape to portrait and portrait to landscape in the phone. this sensor handle axis based motion sensing.

Types of accelerometer sensor
1.       Capacitive Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS)
2.       Piezoresistive Accelerometer
3.       Piezoelectric Accelerometer

                      








Gyro sensor :-gyro sensor measure rate of rotation around an axis it is angular rate sensor .Angular velocity is the change in rotational angle per unit of time. So in gyro, adds additional dimension information supplied by the accelerometer. any changes in orientation in the phone measure by gyro sensor. gyro sensor mostly used during game play . So when you tilt your screen in the phone during game play, gyro sensor tell the screen to rotate according to game interface.
